Culture Machine is a peer-reviewed open-access academic journal of culture and theory that was established in 1999. From its mission statement: "Its aim is to be to cultural studies and cultural theory what 'fundamental research' is to the natural sciences: open-ended, non-goal orientated, exploratory and experimental."
